"Hurricane" Coming to Dream! Former UFC Fighter Harris Signs With Japanese Promotion
Former TUF7 competitor and former UFC fighter Gerald "Hurricane" Harris (18-4-0) has signed a multi-fight deal with leading Japanese MMA promotion Dream. Harris is known by casual fans for a Rnd3 knockout win at UFC 116: Lesnar vs Carwin where he slammed Dave Branch knocking him out. To many die hard MMA fans, Harris is recognized as a fighter who may have been unjustly cut from the UFC after his Unanimous Decision loss to Maiquel Falcao at UFC 123: Rampage vs Machida. As is the usual policy in the UFC, losing two or three fights straight is usually the cause of being cut from the promotion, but this was not the case as Harris' loss to Falcao had just snapped a ten fight win streak. Since his release from the UFC, Harris has gone 1-1 and is expected to make his promotional debut for Dream sometime in September, though the event has not been officially announced and there has been no opponent named. Always fan friendly and personal story about how he lost his brother in a motorcycle accident, Harris has loyal fan base and may very well have more fans waiting to see him fight in Japan.
