Surprise Event for The Brits! UK Gets UFC 138: Leben vs Munoz
Earlier this year the Ultimate Fighting Championship stated that they most likely would not be able to take an event to the United Kingdom in 2011. In a surprise announcement today July 19, the UFC said they will be able to make bring an event to English fans for only the eleventh time when they bring UFC 138 to Birmingham, England. As an added surprise, this event will feature the first ever non-title five-round main event in UFC history. To participate in this new format for non-title main events, two rising American Middleweight contenders will take center stage when hard hitting slugger and fan favorite Chris "The Crippler" Leben (26-7-0) takes on heavy handed wrestler Mark "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" Munoz (11-2-0). Leben will come into the main event bout after his highest profile career win with a Rnd1 KO of former PrideFC Middleweight champion at UFC 132: Cruz vs Faber 2. Munoz will come into the bout on a three fight winning streak with a Unanimous Decision over fellow wrestler Aaron Simpson, a devastating Rnd1 KO over C.B. Dolloway, and his highest profile victory over elite BJJ practitioner Demian Maia at UFC 131: dos Santos vs Carwin. The event is scheduled for November 5 and will aired in the United States via same day tape delay, while viewers in the United Kingdom will get to see the event via live broadcast.
