FW Verbally Agreed Upon for UFC 143 with Koch vs Poirier

Even with only one bout officially confirmed for UFC 143 during Super Bowl weekend showcasing the Welterweight title bout between reigning champion Georges St. Pierre and now former Strikeforce division champion Nick Diaz, this event is beginning to stack up with exciting match ups. One such match up is the recently announced bout that was verbally agree upon on Tuesday November 15 pitting rising young contenders Erik Koch and Dustin Poirier in the Featherweight division. Koch rides a four fight win streak that includes a Rnd1 Submission over Bendy Casimir, a Rnd1 TKO over Francisco Rivera that earned KO of the Night honors, a Rnd1 KO over Raphael Assuncao in his UFC debut that also earned KO of the Night honors, and a Unanimous Decision over TUF12 winner Jonathan Brookins at UFC Fight Night 25: Shields vs Ellenberger. Poirier also rides a four fight win streak that includes a Rnd1 TKO over Zach Micklewright, a Unanimous Decision upset over former contender Josh Grispi in his Featherweight debut, a Unanimous Decision over Jason Young, and a Rnd2 Submission over Pablo Garza recently at UFC On Fox1: Velasquez vs Dos Santos.With Koch at age 23 and Poirier at age 22, the winner will jump up the ranks into potential title contention being one of the youngest contenders in the UFC. This bout is expected to have a place on the highly anticipated PPV card.
