UFC On FX 1/Fight Night 26 Gets Guillard vs Miller as Headliner

On November 17, the Ultimate Fighting Championship officially announced that the promotion would make their network debut on FOX owned channel FX on January 20 ,2012. The event will continue the free televised events deemed UFC Fight Night, but will be recognized as UFC On FX with the first event on the network channel to be headlined by two elite Lightweight contenders when heavy hitting TUF 2 alumni Melvin Guillard and former CFFC champion Jim Miller meet intent on getting back in the hunt for a shot at the title. Though UFC President Dana White himself announced that future main event bouts would be contested with five-five minute rounds the same as title bouts, this bout is believed to be scheduled for the usual three-five minute rounds. Guillard will come into this bout following a stunning Rnd1 upset loss to TUF5 alumni Joe Lauzon at UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III that snapped an impressive five fight win streak. Miller will come into this bout following a Unanimous Decision loss to now former WEC Lightweight champion Benson Henderson at UFC Live 5: Hardy vs Lytle which snapped a seven fight win streak many fans felt already earned him a title shot. This UFC On FX will be the first of many live events to be presented on the network channel with the deal between the UFC and FOX taking effect at the start of 2012 which will also include making the channel the new home of the reality competition series The Ultimate Fighter. Whether the live events on FX will be used as a lead in for season premieres of TUF like Fight Night events were commonly used is unknown at this time. With two exciting and elite contenders in most talent rich division's in the sport set to headline the first live event on FX, the UFC looks to add the excitement of MMA to the network that has brought entertaining and compelling television series like Justified, Louie, Rescue Me, Sons Of Anarchy, and more.
