Sonnen vs Munoz Now "Official" For UFC On FOX 2 Co-Main Event

It is now official that top Middleweight contender and former collegiate wrestler Chael Sonnen (26-11-1) will now take on heavy hitting fellow former collegiate wrestler Mark Munoz (12-2-0) as part of UFC On FOX 2. While originally believed to be set as the headlining bout for this event, Sonnen vs Munoz is instead set as the co-main event. This confirmation come days after Sonnen himself claimed that he was not set to fight Munoz and had hinted that he would be watching the then upcoming bout between contender Michael Bisping and Jason Miller with vested interest. With the bout now set between Sonnen and Munoz, the victor is expected to declared the division's #1 contender who will face reigning champion Anderson Silva after he is fully healed from his current injuries. Sonnen will come into this bout following a dominant Rnd2 Submission over former WEC Light Heavyweight champion Brian Stann at UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III that came after a fourteen month layoff that followed after his failed attempt to capture the title from Silva. Munoz will come into this bout riding his first four fight win streak in the UFC that includes a Unanimous Decision over fellow former collegiate wrestler Aaron Simpson, a quick Rnd1 KO over TUF7 finalist C.B. Dolloway, a Unanimous Decision over elite BJJ practitioner Demian Maia, and a recent Rnd2 TKO over veteran Chris Leben at UFC 138: Leben vs Munoz. Coincidentally both fighters have competed against each other before while still collegiate wrestlers, where Munoz was the victor and claimed that Sonnen cheated in an effort to steal the win. With Sonnen considered the superior wrestler and Munoz considered the better striker coming into this bout, this could make for an interesting match up. Sonnen will look to prove he is the superior wrestler and get the fight to the ground as soon as he can and avoid the power of Munoz. Munoz will look to keep the fight standing where he will have a significant striking and power advantage and be prepared to prove his takedown defense to do so.

As the card currently stands with bouts that are in the works or confirmed already, here is the current line-up of bouts expected to occur as part of this event:
Main event: Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis (LHW)
Co-Main Event: Chael Sonnen vs Mark Munoz (MW)
Demetrious Johnson vs Eddie Wineland (BW)
Mike Russow vs Jon Olav Einemo (HW)
Evan Dunham vs Paul Sass (LW)
Cody McKenzie vs Michael Johnson (LW)

*The official line-up and order of the bouts, other than the main event and co-main event, has not been made official and the order shown will likely change with the addition of more bouts leading up to this event.
